Downlands STEM Club at RTX Quadcopter Finals

We are excited to announce that the Downlands Community School STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Club qualified for the national finals of the RTX Quadcopter Competition!

From 174 entrants, just 14 made it to the finals, which was eventually one by Hitchin Boys’ School. The team from Downlands finished in 5th place. This is a huge achievement, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for the pupils and teachers involved.

The Downlands STEM Club’s journey to the finals has been an incredible experience. Over the past few months, club members have worked tirelessly, clocking up countless hours building, testing and refining their quadcopter design. From overcoming technical challenges to perfecting flight strategies, it’s been a true team effort. Every member of the STEM club has played their part, and we couldn’t be prouder of them.

As a forward-thinking company committed to innovation, Phlorum was delighted to support the club’s endeavours, ensuring they had the resources needed to compete at the highest level in the competition.

At the heart of the RTX Quadcopter Competition lies the desire to challenge and inspire young minds to explore engineering, technology and problem-solving. Phlorum’s support not only made the opportunity possible, it also showed pupils the importance of community, collaboration and the real-world impact of STEM.

The heartfelt thanks Phlorum has received from Downlands School has been a real boost. Phlorum continues to be committed to similar worthy causes, particularly where students gain exposure to innovations in actual STEM subject applications.
